- Spring City Cup 99
56 Golfers from Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and China put their golfing
skills to the test for the Spring City Cup on 19 November 1999.
Organised by the Resort in celebration of its first anniversary, the annual
tournament aims to rank with other prestigious championship events in the golfers' calender.
- Grand Opening of Spring City Golf & Lake Resort
Spring City Golf & Lake Resort was officially opened on the 30th November
1998 by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Singapore, Mr. Goh Chok Tong.
Officials present included the Party Secretary of Yunnan Province, Mr. Ling
Hu An and the Provincial Governor of Yunnan Province, Mr. Li Jia Ting.
- Spring City Cup into 3rd year
December 9 was a red-letter day for Spring City as it added to the list the Ladies
and Men's champions of Spring City Cup 2000, the third of its annual golf tournament.
Avid golfers from nine Asian countries pitted their skills against the picturesque
and challenging Jack Nicklaus Mountain Course. The enjoyment of the game was further
enhanced as the buggies were installed with the new Global Posistioning System (GPS) in
full techno-colour display.
With the GPS, golfers were able to track their scores and pinpoint their distance from the
pin which facilitated the right club selection.
The Challenge Trophy was awarded to Mr Paul Tan (Hong Kong).The second
best and third best nett went to Mr Hiroshi Yokoo (Japan) and Mr Jing Cheng Jiu (P.R. China)
respectively, based on "System 36 Scoring".
As for the Ladies section, Ms Chen Nan (P.R. China) bagged the top best nett title while Ms
Zeng Yu Lin and Mrs Judy Seow won the second best and third best nett respectively.
