"The fairways are wide, making tee shots relatively easy, but the greens are surrounded by sand traps and tall grass, requiring precise calculation to attack. Putting on the greens, which are planted with evergreen bentgrass, is even more challenging!"
— Jack Nicklaus.
Course Introduction
The Mountainview Course at Spring City Golf & Lake Resort was designed by Jack Nicklaus, the best male golfer of the 20th century and the founder of a globally renowned golf course design company. The course fully utilizes the natural undulating terrain, not only featuring the expansive and picturesque waterside scenery but also capturing the tranquil and profound charm of the mountainous landscape. The 18th hole, a par 4, is listed among the world's top 500 holes and is located on this course.
Featured Holes
The 8th hole, a par 3, and the 18th hole, a par 4
- 1 -
Wide View
The view is open, but precision is required for the tee shot to avoid the steep mountain rocks on the left and the large sand trap on the right. When attacking the relatively flat and large green, be wary of the sand traps on both sides.
- 2 -
Downwind Attack
The hole features a slightly left-curving "dogleg" terrain. To achieve par, the ideal shot would be to tee off towards the right.
- 3 -
Seamless Integration
The hole is seamlessly integrated with the natural hillside, allowing you to fully enjoy the beautiful and pleasing rural scenery in the distance.
- 4 -
Navigating Sand Traps
This par-5 hole requires golfers to carefully consider how to avoid the eight sand traps distributed throughout the fairway.
- 5 -
Elevated Tee Shot
The secret to this hole lies in the 60-foot elevation difference between the tee and the fairway, with a unique fairway and a series of obstacles all along the right side of the green.
- 6 -
Turning Stick
The flat green is nestled into a natural hillside filled with lush trees. Adventurous golfers who dare to hit the ball over the corner will only need a short chip shot to reach the green.
- 7 -
Winding and Twisting
Five tees wind and twist down the slope. When teeing off, one must fly the ball over the man-made lake that spans the entire fairway.
- 8 -
Mountain Classic
The representative classic hole of the Mountainview Course, with its peninsula-shaped green surrounded by a pond and sand traps. The tee shot is quite challenging, especially considering the wind conditions and flagstick position.
- 9 -
Verdant Long Lane
You need a solid tee shot to avoid the deep sand trap on the left and make it to the concave fairway. The scenery here is quite beautiful, not only overlooking the club but also offering a pleasant lake view.
- 10 -
Through the Green
The direction of the tee shot in this hole needs to be judged accurately. Keeping to the left will provide a better angle for attacking the green. The undulating green requires careful putting.
- 11 -
A Brief Respite
This is the shortest par-4 hole on the back nine. After the swinging fight of the front half, it allows you a brief respite. The elevated tee box lets you fully enjoy the beautiful view of the winding fairway.
- 12 -
Broad Fairway
This uphill par-5 hole features a broad fairway. The only difficulty lies in the sand trap on the right side of the tee box, which obscures the approach line.
- 13 -
Parachute Landing
The lake runs alongside the hole on the right, presenting numerous hazards. The putting area is situated between a long sand trap and the lake.
- 14 -
Crossing the Lake
The hole faces the lake on the left, requiring a very careful shot. The more the ball crosses the lake, the better the angle to attack the green.
- 15 -
Long Par-5
The longest par-5 hole on the Mountainview course, with a slightly left-leaning terrain that gently slopes downhill. A long sand trap is laid out on the left side of the spacious and open fairway, while a series of small hills is on the right.
- 16 -
Countryside Scenery
This is a mid-distance par-3 hole that allows you to fully appreciate the beautiful countryside scenery. There is a sand trap and rough on the left side of the green, so you should aim to hit the ball towards the right as much as possible.
- 17 -
Daunting Challenge
This is a par-4 hole, one of the last two challenging holes. The tee box is located at a high point, and a sand trap in the middle of the fairway increases the difficulty of the tee shot.
- 18 -
Excellent Final Hole
The last hole has been selected as one of the top 500 holes worldwide. It is also the longest and most difficult par-4 hole on the Mountainview Course.
