Spring City Lakeview Course Awarded Fifth Place in Asia by Golf Travel in 2022

In this year's rankings, both mainland China and Japan boast 21 courses each, with South Korea closely following with 20, maintaining the tripartite dominance. Golf has seen rapid development in South Korea, particularly catalyzed by the pandemic. Looking back at the inaugural selection in 2015, South Korea had 300 courses while China had 600. Today, the tables have turned, with South Korea hosting over 600 courses and China's count reducing to 300.
In the rankings, there are 6 courses listed from Thailand, 5 from Turkey and the United Arab Emirates each, 4 from Malaysia, 3 each from Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines, 2 each from India and Hong Kong, and 1 each from Myanmar and Brunei.
As was the case last year, the frequently top-ranked Shanqin Bay course withdrew from this year's selection due to unspecified reasons. Due to regulatory cleanups, some domestic courses did not participate in this year's selection, and some well-known courses have closed and are thus ineligible for nomination.
The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has restricted many judges from travelling abroad to inspect courses, especially some of the outstanding new ones. Nonetheless, there are still 9 new courses on the list (excluding those that have previously been listed among Asia's top hundred courses).
The current Asian Best Golf Course Judging Committee comprises 73 judges from 11 countries and regions. The committee has made significant strides in refining the selection criteria and expanding the judging panel. These areas are expected to mature further post-pandemic.
